What Will You Do?

Cooking and preparing a variety of fresh nutritious midday meals and other refreshments.
Supervising food service and kitchen staff, organizing daily duties and monitoring performance.
Ensuring that appropriate levels of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained in the kitchen.
Washing, cutting, and preparing food before it is cooked.
Considering the wishes of clients when planning of menus.
Making sure good nutritional standards are maintained when preparing meals.
Making sure that all food at point of delivery is of the highest quality.
Enquiring is any clients have allergies and then cooking meals accordingly.
Keeping an eye on the temperature of cookers and roasters.
Deciding what quantities are to be cooked and the number of portions to be served.
Constantly checking the quality of the food being served to customers.
Checking staff to make sure they are wearing appropriate clothing whilst in the kitchen.
In charge of stock control for the freezers, pantries, and storerooms.
Contacting office administrator for ordering vegetables, meats, kitchen, and cleaning equipment.
Controlling stock rotation to ensure the kitchen and store are always well stocked.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
The ability to stand for extended periods.
Perform any other task assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Skills and Qualifications
Do you meet the minimum requirements?

Education:

Completion of secondary school with at least 2-3 year in food cooking experience or certificate/diploma or high education in catering.
Experience:

At least 2 years in catering experience or other related field,
training/courses is required in catering is added advantage.
Proven experience in cooking food and kitchens management.
A food handler’s license is an added value.
Language proficiency:

Somali language is a must & English is the official language of the duty station and an intermidiate level of understnding is mandatory
Are you competent for this job? Knowledge and skills desired?

Full knowledge of the Statutory Regulations contained in the Health & Safety Act.
Comprehensive understanding of Food Hygiene Regulations.
Experience of high-volume catering in a busy work place.
Fully conversant with various cooking methods like boiling, baking, roasting and steaming.
Detailed knowledge of seasoning and recipes.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Strong attention to detail and quality.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Terms and Conditions

Contract duration: 11 months, Non-renewable.
