Position Title: Climate Change Champion -Project Coordinator
Reporting To: Report to Programme Development and Quality Director
Location: Mogadishu
JOB SUMMARY:
The aim of the position is coordinate the national implementatipon of the Eco Climate Change Champions project.project. The project aims to empower young people to lead sustainable gender responsive climate initiativesinitiatives.
The climate Change Champion project Coordinator project will:
· Be the responsible of the successful project implementation in SOS Children’s village Somalia.
· coordinate activities to support young activists to strengthen their local climate action initiatives.
· Enabling meaningful youth participation in the programme design and implementation.
· Strengthening the awareness of local communities on youth driven climate action and supporting young activists to speak up in local, national and international forums

• Global project team
• Main actors of local communities
Main duties and responsibilities:
· Faciliate and lead project implementation in close collaboration with different departments within SOS Children’s Village Somalia.
· Contribute in the development of strategic program expansion in the climate change themes and explore new areas for programming while considering contextual realities.
· Work closely with relevant line ministries at federal and statre level and coordinate with them on climate change related programmes and actions.
· Definition of a national project plan to ensure the timely and quality implementation, as well as keep track of the project activities.
· Coordinate national programme implementation, monitoring and evaluation. This includes budget management and financial reporting.
· Identify and confirm programme participants: young acticists, local staff and mentors following a list of criterias to be defined.
· Support young activists and staff to design and implement local awareness raising and action plan
· Set up and facilitate peer2peer exchange through the virtual platform Youthlinks. This includes the establishment of a virtual group for exchange.
· Support young people in their mentorship programme to accelerate their youth led initiatives
· As member of the global project team: contribute to global project design, planning and implementation
· Join global coordination meetings when required.
· Promote youth participation and climate action in the organisation and beyond through building awareness raising on youth participation and climate action
· Participate in the Global Summit which will take place and support its organisation if required.
· Produce and provide timely reportings on the project progress (3 per year).
· Willingness to stand up for a gender-equitable society and working environment.
· Adhere to child safeguarding policy and ensure children are protected from any harmful practices. Work with child safeguarding staff to identify and report safeguarding issues.
· Perform any other reasonable task as assigned by the immediate supervisor from time to time.
Skills and Qualifications
JOB COMPETENCES /QUALIFICATION
· Candidate must have Bachelor degree in climate-change , environmental science , agricultural and other relevant social science academic program.
· Proven experience and expertise in climate programming and activist at national and regional level.
· Advanced Project Management Skills: Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and coordinate the implementation of national programs.
· Experience and strong commitment around climate Action, Youth empowerment, Youth participation.
· Medium digital skills which will allow the use of YouthLinks digital platform as well as an interest for digitalization and innovation
· Strong communication & advocacy Skills
· Proven ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including young activists, local coordinators, global project teams, national program teams, and main actors in local communities.
· Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic and changing environment.
· Willingness to explore innovative approaches to youth-driven climate action.
· Working level of english
