Job summary Scope
SomTuna, a leading fishing company based in Berbera, Somaliland, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Fleet and Operation Manager to join our team. As the fleet and operations Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of fish supply and fleet resources efficient utilization essential to our operations. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Tasks and responsibilities
As a Fleet and operations manager, He/she will be managing teams and leading the strategy toward more efficient, cost-effective fish supply for production timelines. Here’s what you can expect your day-to-day tasks to be:
Managing the manufacturing and distribution processes
Working with local fish suppliers, Agents, buyers, and vendors to source the right fish quality and quantity fish supply
Negotiating contracts with suppliers, vendors, contractors, and customers
Utilizing software to track goods from factory to Boats and fleets and logistics
Using data analytics to forecast demand for inventory, analyze the performance of products, and measure against the economy (and other factors)
Cutting costs at every level while maintaining quality and meeting sustainability targets
Developing new and existing relationships with suppliers and partners
Innovating the supply chain process and efficiency
Staying abreast of trends and developments in the sector and technologies
Have a schedule maintenance plan for all Som tuna sea fleet and maintain on time without affecting the operations.
Have a supply plan on efficient way and according to Som tuna Budget on raw fish.
Prequalification and preparing contracts for long-term suppliers for both local and international Fish suppliers.
Experience in a fishing and fleet operation, especially as captain and in the Fisheries and seafood business. It would be better and advantageous for someone with more than 5 years of experience in the same position.
Skills and Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in Fisheries and Maritime, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
· Advanced qualifications or certifications in Fisheries and Maritime will be advantageous.
· Continuous professional development and staying updated on industry best practices and trends.
Experience
· Extensive background in Somalia coastal line fisheries and boat management, ideally within the seafood or food processing industry.
· Proven track record of negotiating favourable terms and maintaining strong relationships with local fish suppliers and agents.
· Proficient in implementing cost-saving strategies and process improvements to optimize fleet and operations.
· Skilled in analysing market trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes to inform sourcing Yemeni and Indian fisheries strategies.
· Successful leadership experience, including team management and development.
