TITLE: Program Assistant – iCCM Plus supervisor

CONTRACT LENGTH: 12 months with possibility of extension
CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 3:The position holder will have contact with children and/or young people frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because because they work country programs :or are visiting country programs :or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staffs.
ROLE PURPOSE:
The ICCM plus supervisor will be responsible for the day to day activities program implementation and managing community outreach activities to ensure efficient and effective sensitisation ,mobilization and participation of the targeted communities and other stakeholders
He/She will report on weekly activities ,monthly and quarterly basis to the line manager.
SCOPE OF ROLE:
Reports to: Health officer
Dimensions: Save the Children operates across all zones in Somalia and currently has three main area offices and additional 11 field offices. Programmatically Somalia is a large Country Office with more than $110million annual budget and staff over 700 staff.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY :
Operational implementation responsibilities
· The ICCM plus supervisor will be the key frontline staff of save the children in the field with the direct interaction with the communities and community health workers (FHWs) in ICCM project sites
· Identify the program related gaps and continuously conduct on job training to the FHWs to ensure they have necessary skills and knowledge to deliver quality health services.
· Provide weekly progress update report as requested by the line manager.
· In collaboration with the program officers participate in the collection of case studies to demonstrate program Impact
· Ensure proper filling and documentation of FHW documents and proper referral mechanism.
· With the support of program officers ensure timely implementation of planned interventions as per the project work plan
· Assist the program officers in procurement distribution and utilization of respective program supplies.
· With the support of program officers conduct awareness creation through community structures like Community health committees, Mother to mother and father to father support groups
· Support and ensure the implementation of cross cutting issues (gender, safeguarding and disability inclusion) by identifying risks, concerns and mainstreaming of program implementation.
Support preparation of IEC materials for accountability, visibility and communication, with the purpose of promoting and disseminating of messages.
· Promote and advocate children’s rights, document and report child right gaps within the scope of the programme at community level.

Technical and thematic Responsibilities
· Work with communities to understand the role of the integrated Community Case Management (iCCM) Program and the responsibilities of the Community Health Workers (CHWs) or Female Health Workers (FHWs).
· Mobilize the community and work with the Community in identification, selection and training of CHWs/FHWs.
· Conduct field visits for iCCM field staff on a daily basis to ensure proper data collection and improve quality of care given by FHWs/CHWs.
· Conduct monthly meetings/trainings with all iCCM staff.
· Conduct quarterly meetings/reviews with all FHWs/CHWs .
· Ensure proper dispensing and recording of drugs from each CHW through iCCM monitors to ensure continuous supply of drugs.
· Have accountability for the drug supply and tracking of the FHWs/CHWs.
· Ensure continuous mentoring and capacity building of FHWs/CHWs, to ensure proper understanding and adherence to iCCM.
· Be the link between the health center and the community to ensure integration of activities.
· Review supervision checklists completed by CHWs/FHWs at least twice per month during supervision visit.
· Collect, verify, and submit monthly activity reports from each iCCM team and submit to the in charge of the health center for integration in the facility HMIS.
· Compile and submit a monthly report to the health center incharge/community health officer on the performance of all iCCM monitors and FHWs monitored.
· Participate in coordination meetings in the community as well as health center internal meetings.
REALM Responsibilities
· Facilitate and monitor implementation of community level activities.
· Ensure proper filling and documentation of relevant program documents.
· Provide support to the REALM team to effectively implement thematic quality benchmark, IPTT, monitor ongoing programme activities and report progress.
· Work with REALM team in collecting information on needs assessment, baselines and post distribution monitoring ensuring the highest level of professional conduct by those collecting data to ensure data integrity.
· Produce timely programme quarterly monitoring and supervision reports and ensure the documentation and dissemination to the concerned parties, using standards checklists, monitoring tools such as Quality Benchmarks.
· Support the line manager in addressing ICCM MEAL issues and update action plan trackers.
· Prepare field visit plans and supervision and use standard checklists in during the field trips.

Skills and Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor Degree or Diploma in health science (Nurse/Midwife/Public Health, Community Health)
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Essential
Minimum 2 years of Experience with an international NGO/UN/ Local NGO & Government in implementing and coordinating humanitarian/development program activities including, health, nutrition and WASH)
Excellent verbal and written communication and relationship building skills.
Experience in community mobilization/CMAM/IYCF/EPI/IMCI/ GBV
Basic knowledge of project planning, implementation, and monitoring.
Good understanding in local language and culture practises.
Basic understanding of child right frameworks.
