Main Purpose:
In collaboration with Mental Health Manager, supervise the mental health team and ensure the planning, coordination and execution of mental health activities at the different care points in the region in accordance with Médecins Sans Frontières protocols.
Responsibilities:-
Support the planning, organization and coordination of mental health activities, in close collaboration with the mental health activity manager and other members of the medical team.
Be familiar with MSF protocols to improve the mental health conditions of patients. Ensure that the team is familiar with them, understands them and works in an interdisciplinary and holistic manner.
Supervise the activities of the mental health team at the different points of care IPD/OPD/ER/ITFC/SHR. Inform the Mental Health Activity Manager of any issues or problems that may arise.
Prepare and train the mental health team and other staff in order to improve the team’s knowledge and preparedness.
Develop, together with the MHAM, a plan for supervising MHPSS activities, plan case discussions with the entire team and provide technical and administrative support to the team.
Develop, in collaboration with the MHAM, the team’s supervision.
Identify and meet other mental health stakeholders/NGOs in the region, strengthen networking and encourage frequent meetings within the MHPSS team.
Coordinate counselling services activities with other relevant stakeholders (such as Ministry of Health, other NGOs on mental health issues, including referral services.
Organize with the team in close collaboration with MHAM administrative incidents and ensure that we have the capacity to face the patients/beneficiaries needs.
Ensure that mental health forms are completed correctly.
Support the DataEncore to enter data in the HMIS database in a timely manner, engage in statistical analysis of data reported by the team, and correct if necessary, always informing the team and manager.
Other tasks include, but are not limited to:
Coordinate with the rest of the medical team to ensure the inclusion of MHPSS activities in medical activities.
Accompany the MH team in their daily activities to provide support in organizing activities and improving the quality of interventions.
Ensure that all confidential information is kept under lock and key.Organize meetings and case studies with the MH team.
Provide training on MH issues to the MHPSS team, MSF staff and external stakeholders if is necessary. Check data entry in HMIS and collaborate with data entry to ensure correct data collection.
Help MHAM to make monthly reports.
Conduct an assessment of the mental health needs of middle and high ill patients and establish a diagnosis and treatment plan. Inform the patient and their family members about the possible consequences of the disease and the drug treatment to be followed and refer them to other health professionals whenever necessary, in order to provide the most appropriate treatment and improve the patient’s condition.
Implement Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) protocol, identifying potential victims of SGBV and referring them to the medical team so that they receive the necessary treatment. • Provide psychological support and psychotherapy sessions (individual, family, group) to critically ill patients according to MSF protocols (VS + SAC + MHGAP + HIV/TB + OSV) to improve their mental health conditions.
Monitor that referrals are made to other stakeholders and that the care provided to beneficiaries is of high quality.
Monitor weekly activities and make a weekly report on them.
Make a monthly order for stationery and other materials needed for MH activities.You are responsible for the correct use of materials.
Inform the supervisor and the medical team of any issues or problems that may arise related to the treatment of patients, in order to provide the best possible solution from a medical point of view.
Good behavior and collaboration with the rest of colleagues (respect, communication, flexibility, camaraderie, cultural awareness) as well as with the staff of the Ministry or other organizations.
Knowledge and application at all times of the safety rules established in the project.
