Job Description
Main Purpose: The Psychologist is expected to provides routine psychosocial support to locally recruited Somali
staff. In the event of a critical incident, you would be expected to support the team while receiving supervision and technical guidance from the Staff Care unit.
Accountabilities
Provision of psychosocial and mental health support for national staff either in group or individual sessions at the field level, in person or phone calls.
Identification and assessment of mental health and stress related issues (exposures to traumatic events, vicarious trauma, burnout, compassionate fatigue, and personal factors), improving staff coping mechanisms.
In case of an urgent need, provide psychological support to the national staff members affected (group and individual debriefing) when delegated by the Staff Care Unit.
Case management and referral of clients in need of psychiatric support.
Collaborate with HQ Staff care team by providing regular updates on staff conditions.
Design trainings, interventions and other psycho-education materials for all Somalia Mission staff members. Maintain an updated data monitoring and reporting system.

MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities
Support MSF and MoH contracted staff in coping with stress and dealing with vicarious trauma through individual and group sessions.
Provision of psychosocial and mental health support for national staff both in groups and individually. Identify and assess individual and team stressors.
Referral/ case manage clients in need of psychiatric support
Organization of psycho-education and self-help group session for the locally recruited staff (LRS) and international mobile staff (IMS) in Kenya and Somalia
Design psycho-education material for national staff
Data monitoring and reporting on a monthly basis with defined format agreed with the medical coordinator
Keep strict confidentiality of staff and organization.
Development of terms of references for field visits; organization of own trips in consultation with project PMRs
Provide recommendations to the management team on improvements required for promotion of better mental health for all staff
Reports after each project/field visit to Somalia- report of the visit with findings and recommendations. Promote mental health awareness among staff through sharing of information.
Provide training and information to staff on psychological well-being and stress management.
