Job title: Occupational/Physiotherapist

Department: Physiotherapy

Reports to: Project coordinator.

Supervision: Mid-level therapist

Duty Station: Kismayu, Jubbaland state of Somalia.

JOB SUMMARY

The physiotherapist, occupational and orthopedic is required to manage people with range of conditions including; including neurological, neuro musculoskeletal, Orthopedic, cardiovascular and respiratory and book them regularly for follow up and continued treatment where required/refer in line with LWF country strategies through provision of oversight to ensure expected program objectives are achieved.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Work with patients who have a range of conditions, including neurological, neuro musculoskeletal, Orthopedic, cardiovascular and respiratory and book them regularly for follow up and continued treatment where required/refer
Diagnose, assess and treat their physical problem/condition
Develop and review treatment programs that encourage exercise and movement by the use of a range of techniques;
Involve parents and care givers in the treatment, review and rehabilitation of patients and educate them about how to prevent and/or improve conditions at homebased level;
Write patient case notes/human interest stories and reports and collect statistics where needed;
Liaise with other healthcare professionals as needed to exchange information about the progress of patients, as well as to refer patients who require other medical attention and for further treatments;
Keep up to date with new techniques and technologies available for treating patients;
Be legally responsible and accountable, caring, compassionate and professional at all times;
Manage clinical risk, adhere to standards of patient care, treatment protocols and documentation standards for the facility
Performing all key functions with regard to Physical therapy and additional, other related functions as directed when appropriate and also adhering to standards of performance as required by the institution
Skills and Qualifications
Diploma in physiotherapy/Occupational
Proven experience of minimum 3 years working within a humanitarian and development programme.
Experience gained with an international NGO will be an added advantage.
Valid license for practicing
COMPETENCIES

Excellent computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, use of internet and email
Good in-depth knowledge and understanding of humanitarian principles and protection frameworks, tools and minimum standards.
Ability to liaise with a variety of people successfully and effectively in a multicultural set up.
Ability to work independently.
Fluent in written and spoken English with strong presentation skills.
