Job summary
The Physiotherapist/Occupational assistant (Midlevel therapist) will help patients with physical difficulties resulting from illness, injury, disability or ageing to improve their wellbeing. The job holder is responsible assisting the occupational therapist or the physiotherapist using manual therapy such as massage, therapeutic exercise and electrotherapy as well as provide advice to patients and caregivers on how to avoid disability injuries.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
To assist in the delivery of physiotherapy and occupational therapy input to patients with a variety of conditions including musculoskeletal, neurological conditions and others.
To liaise with other members of the multi-disciplinary team in regards to patient’ rehabilitation.
To guide, train and monitor patient/caregiver, the use of assistive device with supervision of physiotherapist.
Train and mentor the parents on massage, exercise and other rehabilitation treatment as prescribed by physiotherapist.
Organize the sequences of the service users daily for the use of rehabilitation materials.
Observe and follow up service users when using rehabilitation materials for corrections, and instruct them how to use.
Help the occupational therapist Treat patient following the treatment goals and treatment plan.
Assist weekly play therapy sessions of CWD and their parents/caregivers to help them improve their mobility and wellbeing.
Ensure the tidiness, cleanliness and proper arrangement of the treatment room/area that you are assigned
Put the service users on rehabilitation equipment after prescription from the physiotherapy staff
Prepare patient appointment and discharge plans
Prepare and write and the follow up plan of the patient appointment
To prepare and complete client’s records professionally and departmental standards.
Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor
Reporting
Generate weekly report to your supervisor.
Collect day to day client’s information/records and report to physiotherapist
Skills and Qualifications
Qualification and Experience
Educational background: Certificate in physiotherapy, occupational therapy, community health nursing, massage therapy, health care assistance from recognized institutions.
Experience: at least 2 years of working experience in the same field
COMPETENCIES
Excellent computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, use of internet and email
Good in-depth knowledge and understanding of humanitarian principles and protection frameworks, tools and minimum standards.
Ability to liaise with a variety of people successfully and effectively in a multicultural set up.
Ability to work independently.
Fluent in written and spoken English with strong presentation skills.
