OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY
INTERSOM has an exciting opportunity and is looking for experienced individuals to join our team as the Integrated Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Manager to take on short-term contracts and deploy to support our humanitarian responses as well as take a leading role in our new WASH Program.
The emergency WASH program is intended to support life-saving WASH response to the affected communities and the WASH Project Manager will deploy into humanitarian emergencies to contribute to our work to provide life-saving and help IDP families affected by natural disasters.
ROLE PURPOSE:
The WASH Project Manager will be responsible for all technical aspects supporting WASH activities for an effective Emergency Response including WASH facilities for INTERSOM Primary Hygiene and Sanitation to protect against infectious disease outbreak.
The WASH Manager is also tasked with the recruitment and training of WASH officers and hygiene Promoters, on the operation and maintenance of WASH facilities, disinfection (including chlorine preparation), and liaising with Wash staff to ensure the implementation of appropriate protocols and effective hygiene promotion.
Skills and Qualifications
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Essential
Experience working in a senior management role within an integration country program in an emergency response
Master’s degree in Public Health, Water Engineering, or a related subject, or equivalent field experience
Experience working with infectious diseases, particularly in CTCs.
Experience managing PHC facility water, sanitation, wastewater, and waste disposal systems.
Experience managing a WASH team at the national Staff members
Experience in WASH project management and program coordination, implementing the WASH program on time, and within budget
Experience of and commitment to working through systems of community participation and accountability
Demonstrated monitoring and evaluation skills
Proven capacity to supervise, train, and coach staff in WASH technical skills
Experience preparing successful funding proposals for donors
Ability to write clear reports, program supervision, and assessments
Excellent communication skills
Strong influencing skills and experience in advocacy
Good written and spoken English
Flexible, willing, and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure working circumstances.
Good understanding of INTERSOM’s mandate and child focus to ensure continues to support the affected families in IDPs.
