Role: WAM Assistant – Weapons Ammunition Management (WAM)
Reporting to: WAM Project Manager
Location: Mogadishu, Somalia
Contract: 12-month contract with possibility of extension
About the role:
The WAM Assistant (WA) is responsible for supporting the effective implementation and management of WAM-related projects. They offer administrative assistance to the WAM Project Manager and WAM Officer to ensure the successful delivery of projects funded by the U.S. donor, focusing on the safe management, storage, and disposal of weapons and ammunition. The WA will support data management, training delivering, risk assessment operations and other materials, liaise with internal stakeholders and ensure compliance with donor requirements and organizational standards.
Role and Responsibilities:
Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing WAM projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and donor expectations.
· Provide administrative, logistical and financial assistance to the Project Manager and WAM Officer.
· Assist the Training Officer in the coordination and implementation of the different courses (EOD, SK_SM, ToT, Etc.).
Assist the WAM Officer in the coordination and realization of risk assessment.
Assist in the collection, analysis, and presentation of data related to WAM activities.
Coordinate with relevant departments to ensure project delivery and contractual compliance, including Finance, Operations and Human Resources.
Respond to internal stakeholder information requests.
Travel as required to fulfil the above duties.
Skills and Qualifications
4+ years of relevant professional experience, including assistant roles and experience in a non-governmental organisation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Somali.
Ability to manage and coordinate diverse tasks, build and maintain relationships and facilitate communication among multiple parties.
Demonstrated ability to multitask, problem-solve and to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
Ability to work efficiently and independently and to manage multiple deadlines.
Strong organisational skills and high attention to detail.
Understand and uphold the standards outlined in HALO’s safeguarding policy, acting with due care and reporting concerns if they arise.
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite; ability and willingness to learn to use new software.
