Overview of position

Under the overall guidance of the MPA Program Manger & direct supervision of National Program Officer, in coordination with the Migrant Protection & Assistance (MPA) team & relevant colleagues, the successful candidate will assist in supporting & contributing to MPA unit activities, in particular project implementation, case management & communications.

Role objectives

The tasks will include:

Assist the National Program Officer in developing program implementation plans, monitoring missions, administrative & operational guidelines related to Assisted Voluntary Return & Reintegration (AVRR).

Assist Program Assistants (Case Managers) & sending missions in preparing interviews, pre return counseling & Individual Reintegration Plans (IRPs) under the various programs.

Review & update program implementation plans in close coordination with MPA teams in Hargeisa, Berbera & Bossaso.

Provide support in collecting, storing & managing documentations as per standard Means of Verifications (MoVs) guidelines under MPA projects.

In close coordination with relevant authorities, support the Program Assistants with administrative, logistical & financial assistance of AVRR cases at pre return, post arrival & reintegration stages.

Liaise with service providers & external partners in the provision of post arrival & referral assistance to most vulnerable returnees under various programs.

In close coordination with the media & communications team & the MPA field teams, assist in preparing C&V plans & track progress to ensure MPA activities are featured on social media channels.

Assist in organizing of training, workshop & consultation events.

Carry out any other duties assigned.

Training components & learning elements:

The Intern will gain on site experience in working in an international multicultural environment, within the United Nations (UN) system.

The Intern will gain a better understanding of our clients work, as an inter governmental organization in the field of migration & sustainable development, including cooperation with the government partners & UN agencies.

The Intern will acquire technical knowledge in AVRR related case management, reporting, communications needs & Community Based Reintegration (CBR) project within the scope of Integrated Approach to Reintegration (IAR) through economic, social & psychosocial dimensions.

The Intern can will be able to access relevant online training courses at the disposal of all client staff.

The Intern will have the possibility to interact with the multi stakeholder constituents, as well as with the internal & external partners involved in organization & implementation of capacity building communications & knowledge sharing activities.

Skills and qualifications
Key competencies

University degree in political or social science, business administration, international relations, law or a related field from an accredited academic institution.

Experience in project development & reporting, writing & editing information materials & reports, operational activities both in humanitarian & development sector.

Work experience in the protection sector in Somalia an advantage.

General knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams, etc.).

Digital literacy & demonstrated knowledge of information technology in Adobe Creative Cloud, InDesign, Illustrator & Photoshop is an advantage.

Fluency in Somali & in English is required (oral & written).

Team management

This role has no team management responsibility.
