About the Central Bank of Somalia (CBS)

The Central Bank of Somalia was established in 1968 as the country’s financial regulatory institution. After years of insecurity, fragility, and economic decline due to the collapse of the state in 1991, The Central Bank was revived and strengthened with the CBS Act of 2011. 1- Role

As a Security Officer, you will undertake security and surveillance duties and you will be responsible for detecting any suspicious happenings and preventing vandalism, thefts, or any other criminal behavior.

2- General Description

Security Officer monitors CBS properties, buildings, and areas and ensures there is no occurrence of suspicious activity around. Responsibilities of a security guard include inspecting access points, restraining trespassers, and responding to alarms and emergencies.

3- Duties and Responsibilities

· Monitors and responds to technical security alarms installed in government buildings

· Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities, informing violators of policy and procedures, restraining trespassers

· Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities; interviewing witnesses; obtaining signatures

· Internal Security locking windows, and doors and turning off the electricity is the responsibility of the security officer branch

· Contribute to security team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

· Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; permitting entry

· Completes reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities; interviewing witnesses; obtaining signatures

· Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

· Assist Security Senior Officer in Ensuring the security, safety, and well-being of all personnel, visitors, and the premises

· Patrol premises regularly

· Monitoring surveillance cameras and equipment

· Inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points

· Authorize entrance of people and vehicles

· Ensure the security, safety and well-being of all personnel and visitors

· Report any suspicious behaviors and happenings to supervisors

· Respond to alarms or suspicious noises, and react in a timely manner

· Complete reports by recording observations, information, and occurrences

· Submit reports of daily surveillance activity

· Submit reports of every suspicious action

· Protect and maintain confidential information

· Adhere to all company service and operating standards

· Performs other related duties as assigned by the branch

Skills and Qualifications
Education:

§ Bachelor’s degree in security, Criminal/Forensic Science, International Relations, or

§ Good knowledge of the rules of first aid and self-

Experience:

At least 3 years of working with security institutions, public law enforcement, financial institutions (e.g., banks), private security agencies, or closely related field
Language:

§ Operationally fluent in both Somali and English.

1- Functional and Organizational Skills

· Good understanding of legal guidelines for security and public safety

· Good knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques employed in establishing and maintaining building security

· Skill in observing and detecting unusual occurrences or behavior

· Good knowledge of police and security techniques

· Experience in proposal and report writing

· Excellent computer skills

· Excellent analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills

· good teamwork and time management skills

· Critical thinker and problem-solving skills

· High level of integrity and honesty

Should be alert and have good judgement in detecting and reporting unusual situations which indicate a danger to the building, its equipment, or contents
