Overview of position
The Consultant will lead the planning, delivery & reporting of a market assessment tools trainings course in Mogadishu, Somalia. The expected delivery timeline is 19th to 23rd January 2025.
Role objectives
Specific objectives:
Lead the technical planning of the MATT course, in conjunction with the CALP’s learning team.
Collaborate with the Co-Facilitator throughout the course.
Facilitate the MATT course in English, in line with CALP materials & in communication with CALP staff & local and regional partners as necessary.
Conduct a review of the course, prepare & submit a report, propose specific recommendations.
Methodology:
The methodology will be in line with the course curriculum, with variations agreed in advance with CALP & the Co-Facilitator.
This training will also involve a practical field school session (participants going to nearby markets to collect data) in conjunction with the Somalia Cash Working Group (SCWG).
Key deliverables / outputs:
Prepared materials & completed planning with the Co-Facilitator.
Delivery of one MATT course as planned in English.
Submission of post training report (for each country), with recommendations.
Completed participants pre assessment and post evaluation on the training / learning.
Completed Trainer observation & feedback form for Co-Facilitator.

Facilitation:
Delivery of 5 day MATT Course (3.5 day classroom based training & facilitating a 1.5 day practical field visit exercise (in collaboration with Somalia CWG) for the participants to collect market data for the exercise) for each country
Facilitate full sessions as planned with Co-Facilitator
Provide support during other sessions & activities, as necessary

Project reporting
This piece of work is commissioned by our client in partnership with the Cash Working Group Somalia to be supported by CALP network. Our client / CWG Programmatic Co-Chair as supported by CALP East Africa will provide overall oversight of the training.
CALP will support the preparation of the training & revision of training materials.
The CALP Learning Delivery Lead will provide overall oversight.
Our client will cover the costs of accommodations & flights for the selected Trainer.
Skills and Qualifications
Qualification
Certificate in CALP (essential).
Sector experience
Minimum of 5 year/s of demonstrable relevant Training experience (essential).
Geographical experience
Minimum of 5 year/s of experience in Africa (desirable).
Languages
Fluent in English (essential).
Key competencies
For this piece of work, CALP is looking for the following expertise:
Must be CALP certified to deliver the market assessment tools training course.
Ideally have delivered the face to face training market assessment tools training or the Core CVA skills for program staff course.
Demonstrated experience of training course delivery, especially with CVA course content.
Experience of the context in East Africa is desired.
Good understanding of current good practice regarding CVA globally & in particular market assessments.
Strong interactive facilitation skills & an adaptive, dynamic instructional approach to ensure learning remains tailored to evolving discussions & questions.
General awareness of the markets situation in Somalia is desirable.
Team management
This role has no team management responsibility.
