Terms of Reference for GBV case managers under FCDO-funded Project “Empowered Communities, Including Boys and Girls, to Fight Against Violence Against Women and Children in and Around Schools”.

Positions: GBV Case Manager.

Sector: Protection

Location of work: Mogadishu, Somalia

Reports to: Field Coordination Manager.

Start of work: 1st of October 2024

No f position: 3 (two Banadir and 1 Galmudug.)

Workplace: Mogadishu and Galkacyo.

Duration of contract: 12 months with possibility of extension based on Performance.

The GBV Case Manager is a crucial role within the project, dedicated to addressing and responding to cases of violence against women and children in Banadir (Wadhajir, Wabeeri) and Galkacyo district in Galmudug state. The primary purpose of this role is to provide survivor-centered care, ensuring that survivors of violence receive appropriate support and services. The GBV Case Manager collaborates with government officials, Women’s Rights Organizations (WROs), and other stakeholders to effectively implement GBV prevention and response measures and will be based at Health facilities management by the ministry of Health and human services in the mentioned district. The role aims to contribute to the reduction of violence against women, boys, and girls by mainstreaming prevention efforts and survivor support services within the targeted communities.

Roles and Responsibilities:

* Provide compassionate and survivor-centered care in response to Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) cases in Banadir region.

* Ensure the well-being and safety of survivors, respecting their rights and choices throughout the support process.

* Build the capacity of Child Protection (CP) and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) service providers in the intervention districts.

* Collaborate closely with government officials, Women’s Rights Organizations (WROs), and other relevant stakeholders to foster a coordinated approach in addressing GBV.

* Work in partnership with these entities to monitor and implement social norms change programs aimed at reducing VAWC.

* Ensure the effective implementation of GBV prevention measures in alignment with project objectives.

* Develop and implement strategies to prevent and respond to incidents of violence, contributing to a safer environment for women, boys, and girls.

* Contribute to the achievement of project outcomes by mainstreaming VAWC prevention strategies in target communities.

* Engage with community leaders, mentors, and service providers to integrate prevention measures into community-led initiatives.

* Maintain accurate and confidential records of VAWC cases and the support provided.

* Prepare regular reports on the status of survivor-centered care, prevention activities, and capacity-building efforts.

* Provide 5 W matrix data to the capacity building officer on monthly bases before the start of the subsequent month to be shared with GBV/CP sub clusters coordinators.

* Engage with local communities and case workers at the health facilities at the target districts to raise awareness about VAWC prevention and available support services.

* Foster community participation and collaboration in the project’s initiatives.

* Stay updated on best practices in GBV prevention and survivor support.

* Provide feedback and recommendations for the continuous improvement of GBV-related interventions.

Skills and Qualifications
§ Degree in social work, psychology, or a related field.

§ 3 to 4 years’ experience in GBV /CP case management and survivor support in Somalia.

§ Knowledge of survivor-centered care principles and practices.

§ Familiarity with the socio-cultural context of Banadir and Galmudug regions.

§ Excellent communication and coordination skills.

§ Ability to work in a team and adapt to changing project requirements.
