Job Description

FHI 360 is a nonprofit human development organization dedicated to improving lives in lasting ways by advancing integrated, locally driven solutions. FHI 360 serves more than 70 countries, all 50 U.S. states, and all U.S. territories. FHI 360’s Crisis Response team has been responding to the humanitarian emergency in Northern Ethiopia through an integrated health, nutrition, WASH, and Protection project to meet the critical needs of the conflict-affected population. FHI 360 aims to expand its reach to the Somali Region in Eastern Ethiopia to meet the immediate needs of the drought-affected population and will be implementing integrated humanitarian programming with the Ethiopia-based national organization, Pastoralist Concern (PC).

Accountabilities:

Maintain cashbooks and accounts records and ensure payments are allocated to the correct project and budget line.

• Ensure that shared costs are allocated appropriately across projects.

• Ensure timely and accurate payment of Health Extension Workers, volunteers and field transactions.

• Confirm that payment related to field finance transactions have the necessary documentation as outlined in fhi360procurement policies and procedures for all goods and services

Ensure that all transactions are booked on daily basis into the cash book in accordance with guidelines.

Ensure that proper authorization has been obtained before any payment takes place.

Ensure that all vouchers are properly coded (project no., budget line and G/L account).

Processing all payments in time.

Maintenance of a proper and transparent filling system of all documents relation to finance.

Confirm availability of funds before authorization of project expenditures.

Ensure all financial transactions have the required supporting documents.

Handling all finance related work when the finance officer is on leave.

Works on problems that are moderate in scope and require judgment in resolving or making recommendations.

Exercises judgment within defined policies and procedures to obtain solutions and perform duties.

Decisions made generally affect own job or specific functional area.

Supervision Given/Received:

Has no supervisory responsibility.

Receives instructions on new assignments.

Typically reports to a Finance Officer.

Skills and Qualifications
Education:

Associates Degree in Accounting /finance or its International Equivalent.

Experience:

0-2 years of experience providing Finance related responsibilities.

Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and Accounting software.

• Vocational or specialized training desired.

• Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO) desirable but not required.

• Fluent in local language and excellent in English.

Typical Physical Demands:

Typical office environment.

Ability to spend long hours looking at computer screen and doing repetitive work on a keyboard.

Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.

Ability to lift/move up to 5 lbs.

Technology to be Used:

Laptop, Microsoft applications (i.e., Office 365, SharePoint, Skype/Zoom/Teams), cell phone/mobile technology, and standard office equipment.

Travel Requirements:

Less than 10%
